The time has come to calm all the whiners, Resurrection of GTR has begun.

(Our homepage and wiki are currently out of date, but we've already started updating them.)
GTR will come with so many new features and changes, I can't count them all here..
Just to name a few:
- Uncountable code optimizations to improve performance, stability and network traffic.
- Improved unlagged code to work together with si_fps.
- Lots of new models and modelspecific sounds for nearly every model.
- All models now available in all teams due to the..
- New proskins for all models and for both teamgames(red/blue) and FFA/duel games(green)
- New brightskins(2 colors + intensity changeable) available for those who are not satisfied with the proskins.
- Improved weaponeffects + scaleable detail level.
- Freezetag gametype, the original way of Freezetag.
- New playerlean (not q4 1.4.2 style, way better), it is actually useful now.
- Q3 style footsteps, no ugly footsteps when strafing left/right.
- Completely rewritten a lot of things from scratch to improve performance and add more options:
- New menu with all settings you could want to change including quickinfos for most of the settings, a cool new ingame browser and much more.
- New scoreboard system to remove the lag when opening it and improve performance.
- New hud system, which eases creation of new huds, custom huds available via hud_style, including 4 huds to choose from: gtHud, classicHud, ospHud, cpmaHud. And a lot of new options so hud writers have more comfort, like native support for railsafe colors. (there is a color value calculated and a floating point number which shows how many railhits you can take)
- More comfortable chatting features.
- GTX (GameType eXtreme), a new gamemode with cpm like movement.
- Better weaponswitch time in GTR & GTX, the time needed to switch is now faster and equal on all weapons.
( BaseQ4 gamemode stays original as always).
- Support for movie creation mod.
- A small mappack featuring 5 midair maps and a couple of dm/tdm maps.
- Traineemodes (one weapon only games, midair, instagib and defrag/freestyle) improved and made gamemode specific.
- Improved support for custom gamemodes.
And we are very proud to announce, that we now have an excessive gamemode included, which has been written by the authors of the original quake 3 excessive plus.cfg ( flex1'ko, hq'ko and mow.Q! )
And the famous k[] clan (killing obsession) is going to create a Q4 excessive plus community based on GTR. Soon there is going to be more information on this topic.
We are currently looking for help on both GTR and the Q4 excessive community:
- The excessive community is in need of a webmaster who is able to create a page based on cms.
- The gtr team is looking for help on nearly any section (gfx, models, sounds, maps, ..)
And especially we are currently looking for beta testers, because we are soon going to start private betatests to remove bugs and improve online performance.
If you have betatesting experience, apply now! If you have cpm experience too, even better, please help us to finetune GTX (our promode like gamemode).

Finally, the unlagged code for Q4 has been finished.
It's been tested for a while now and improved very much. it doesnt take much performance, so you should not have any problems running it.
I have made 2 version of unlagged.
The first one is a new version of GameType Revolution (just an altered 0.17b, so dont expect new features): http://gtr.quakedev.com/gtr_017c.zip
Changes: gtr 0.17b + unlagged code and railjumping enabled in instagib mode + new napalm gun style.
There is no support for this version of gtr, it has just been altered to get the unlagged tested more before its finally used in gtr 0.20
Server is running here: gtr.ipax.at:28004 (thx to our sponsor ipax.at)
And the other one is a baseq4 version (for the ones who would like to test it without any other changes), with just a little extension to allow railjumps.
This mod has been combined with the Q4Gib mod (if you just want the unlagged, delete the q4gib.pk4) and is downloadable here.

For All mod developers, the sourcecode is available, it also contains source for railjumping.

this news should have been out a month ago, but we had communication problems with our old news poster Tesseract. Luckily we got a new newsposter: mTw|eSca.
Welcome and thanks for helping us.
We did much work on GTR in the last few weeks and it is getting better and better. At first we made a Wiki for GTR, which can be edited/modified by you (Special thanks to Inops, who filled it with content)
The GTR Team is happy to announce a new member, Kill4Free` who is designing the graphics for the new menu we are working on. It looks very cool and has everything you could want to see in a menu. But we also worked on the performance to make it getting smoother. Furthermore a new bug report tool was included in GTR, so that bugs are easier to find.
The enhanced sabot is getting better every day and we have already done a lot of performance improvements on the bot by converting all scripts files to real C++.
The GTR Mappack has already four midair- and two TDM maps, which are finished and more maps are in work.
We have additional worked on some unlagged code in the last few weeks.
A test version for you is downloadable here and can be played on this Server: 85.90.162.19:28004. Before enjoy it, you have to extract the Zip to your quake4 folder (for example: c:\games\quake4) there it will create an unlagged folder automatically.
The second work, which is also in the unlagged Zip file, was for a new napalm gun style, which makes it more effective. An example for the new style can be watched in this video (If you have problems to watch the file, try this player. To enjoy the new style, you have to extract the Zip file as told before.
We have another new member to announce: IvIephisto, a new coder, who is working on the new StatShare code. This StatShare code is hopefully soon bringing you a new comfort in finding equally good players, and improving your skills.
And finally we are happy to present a new trial member, darknesz. He is a modeler and is going to help us on playermodels and stuff. But he has problems to export md5 models from Maya 8. If you have any idea how to help our modeler, solving this problem, please contact us.
Sadly the two other trial members, who applied for gtr, had to leave us (this news is way too old now), because of real life problems. So can not tell you if we are able to make so much on the moviemaker features for Version 0.20.
But Tchouky from Shaolin Productions is trying to get us some cool movie making features ported from his famous Kroma, a Q3 engine for moviemaking. Although it is not sure yet, how much is possible, and if he is able to finish it.

GameType Revolution is growing rapidly.
But, we need help. We are currently looking to add to our staff in the following areas:

- GUI Scripters
- Modelers

The next release planned, version 0.20, is going to be a large one. Here are some teasers for what is to come:

For the early stages of development, we are looking for experienced CPMA players to help tweak the weapon balance and physics of GTX, a new promode.
Anyone experienced with making movies would be able to suggest features they think should be added to the mod to improve the ease of making movies.

Just a small update here, but a good one!
We've fixed the "addon.conf" bug that was incompatible with certain maps and gametypes.
So now, instead of voting a map and nothing happening, it works!
And while we were in there messing around, we decided to add a nice feature: You can now view the server's maplist instead of your own in the vote menu.
